Connecting your bank statement to your admin: how it works

Most of the time in your admin goes into one question: has this invoice been paid yet? If you track that by hand, it takes hours and you make mistakes. Upload your bank statement, and your admin largely solves it for you.

Here's how it works and what you gain, simply.

What does "connecting your bank statement" mean?

Your bank statement is the list of all money in and out of your business account. By loading that list into your admin, your admin sees exactly what came in and what you spent. You can then link each payment to the right invoice β€” this is called matching.

What do you gain?

  • You instantly see who has and hasn't paid. No more guessing, no more sending reminders to clients who already paid.
  • Your VAT is more correct. Every incoming and outgoing payment is linked, so your revenue and costs are complete.
  • You save time. Instead of comparing your statement to your invoices line by line, matching largely happens on its own.
  • Your return is ready faster. At quarter-end everything is already neatly together.

An example

You sent ten invoices this month. Seven clients paid, three haven't. Without a connected bank you'd sort that out by hand. With a connected bank you see at a glance: seven payments matched to invoices, three invoices still open. You know right away who gets a reminder.

How it works in BoekBrug

In BoekBrug you upload your bank statement, and BoekBrug matches the payments to your invoices automatically. Payments that belong to an invoice get linked; the rest you can categorise yourself. So you see, in one overview, what's paid, what's still open, and how your revenue and VAT stand.

Together with scanning your receipts and sharing with your accountant, this keeps your whole admin correct β€” with a few minutes of work a week.
